Faux wood blinds are those made from a synthetic material which looks like wood. As such, the said blinds look very much like genuine wood blinds but they are not. Genuine wood blind are made from pieces of wood harnessed from felled trees. On the other hand, the material used in making faux wood blinds is obtained from the mixing of certain chemicals, in a factory setting, to come up with a material which looks like wood (but is certainly not real wood). It is more of a plastic, but with many of the aesthetic features associated with wood. It is, in actual fact, also referred to as fake wood.
Now the top four reasons behind the growing popularity of faux wood blinds include the facts that:
1. Faux wood blinds are cost effective: they tend to be more cost-effective than the window blinds made from real wood. That is especially the case in the many parts of the world where governments, in a bid to play their part in protecting the environment, have put in place logging restrictions. It is a step which tends to have the effect of making stuff made from real wood too costly. Yet there are people who like the great aesthetic appeal and functionality of real wood blinds, but who, finding themselves unable to afford such blinds, seek to know whether there is any close alternative they can make use of. In answer, they are usually referred to the said faux wood blinds, which in many ways look (and function) just like genuine wood blinds.
2. Faux wood blinds are elegant: there are actually some faux wood blinds which turn out to be more elegant that even real wood blinds. The good thing with faux wood (which is a strength it has over real wood) is in that it is more flexible; more malleable if you like. It therefore becomes possible to make designs on it that would have been difficult or outright impossible to make on real wood. But even to the people who find real wood more elegant than faux wood, but who are unable to afford (or to get) real wood blinds, the elegance that wood blinds made from faux wood have over those made from other materials still makes the (faux wood blinds) more preferable.
3. Faux wood blinds are eco-friendly: this makes the faux wood blinds a better choice for people who like the look of wooden window blind, but who hate the idea of (unnecessarily) decimating trees to get the wood used in making such blinds. The window blinds made from faux wood turn out to be a better choice in that the look almost as good as the wooden blind yet obtaining the material used in making them doesn’t involve the decimation of trees.
4. Faux wood blinds lend themselves well to mechanization: this, at least, is the view of some peopleĀ where the window blinds made from wood are viewed as easier to automate (and thus control through a lever, or through a button, rather than being controlled manually) than real wood blinds.
